December 2024 Gameplay Update
Valve’s latest deployment refines the sub-tick architecture and tightens competitive integrity across all official servers.
The patch introduces a 12% reduction in input latency for sub-tick interpolation, directly addressing community feedback regarding desync during rapid movement. VAC Live now performs deeper memory scanning for unauthorized overlay injections, while the matchmaking algorithm has been recalibrated to prioritize recent win/loss trends over long-term history. Developers also patched the utility desync bug on Mirage that allowed molotovs to clip through the windows ledge.
Sub-Tick Refinements
Network prediction stability improved by 18%. Hit registration consistency now matches 64-tick legacy servers while preserving Source 2’s dynamic physics.
Anti-Cheat Expansion
VAC Live updated to detect hardware-level spoofing. Queue times reduced by 40 seconds on average due to optimized server allocation.
Weapon Balance & Stat Adjustments
Granular tuning across primary rifles and suppression tools to stabilize the mid-to-late game economy.
The AK-47’s first-shot vertical recoil has been increased by 0.15 units, making spray transitions slightly more demanding. Conversely, the M4A1-S now deals 38 damage to the torso at 50 meters, up from 35, narrowing the gap with its suppressed counterpart. The AWP retains its one-shot kill potential below 100 meters, but bolt-action speed has been slowed by 50ms to discourage rapid repositioning after misses.
AK-47
First-shot vertical recoil +0.15. Horizontal spread after 3rd bullet reduced by 10%. Magazine capacity unchanged at 30 rounds.
M4A1-S
Torso damage at 50m increased to 38. Suppressor now reduces muzzle flash by 95% instead of 90%. Reload time: 2.5s.
AWP
Bolt action speed slowed by 50ms. Scope zoom sensitivity adjusted for tighter tracking. Damage falloff begins at exactly 100.1m.
Map Revisions & Timing Adjustments
Level geometry, lighting passes, and utility interactions have been recalibrated for competitive parity.
Valve reworked the volumetric smoke system to allow dynamic lighting penetration, changing how players read through utility on active sites. Anubis B-site received a lighting pass update to reduce shadow blindness near the main ramp. The CT spawn timer on Mirage has been extended by 2 seconds to allow proper grenade setup on T-side. Inferno’s banana ramp now features revised collision meshes, preventing unintended player clipping during retakes.
Anubis
B-site lighting adjusted to eliminate deep shadow zones. Main ramp collision smoothed for consistent peek angles.
Mirage
CT spawn timer extended to 18s. Windows ledge geometry patched to block utility desync exploits.
Inferno
Banana ramp collision revised. B-apartments lighting brightened by 15% to improve crosshair visibility during executes.
